Mark Barclay was Retail Director at Bolton Specsavers for 10 years before selling his interest in the Practice in September 2005, when it closed on Market Street. After selling, he was contractually restricted by Specsavers from working in Bolton for two years, and has been looking forward to returning.
He now joins Optometrists Malcolm & Trupti Hurst, and some of his former colleagues, working together at Vision Direct. Mark says, “I’m pleased to have joined such an exciting and forward thinking company. Their investment in technology, the latest designer eyewear, and commitment to excellence is second to none. Malcolm has brought together a fantastic Optical team that has a passion for service, and pride themselves on providing the highest quality customer care and support in glasses and sunglasses optical advice. Malcolm was previously my senior optometrist and I have worked with him and his staff for almost ten years. It's going to be a pleasure working with all of them again.
Over the years I’ve learned that patients want more from their eye care provider. They expect great service, sound advice and friendly experienced staff when choosing Glasses, Prescription Sunglasses, and Designer Sunglasses, and all at a competitive price. Strangely though, many people feel dissatisfied with their eye care providers, often complaining that they are kept waiting too long and the whole process can feel like a production line. Patients often say they’ve received poor quality service from inexperienced staff with little or no help and advice when choosing designer frames. I believe the best quality customer service and care should be available to ALL patients when visiting their Opticians, and that going for an eye test should not be a chore, and when choosing new glasses or prescription sunglasses it should be a pleasurable experience.
Part of our philosophy at Vision Direct is making time for one to one interaction with all our patients. It's a pleasure helping them chose their Glasses or Sunglasses, explaining their prescription glasses requirements and offering them the best product for their needs. Every patient is unique, and I know that all the staff at Vision Direct take time to understand their requirements, and provide competitively priced designer glasses, prescription sunglasses and sunglasses designed for each individual. My focus will be on ensuring the highest quality care, continually delivering service with passion, and offering a truly personalised service to all our patients”.
Malcolm says,” I’m very excited about Mark joining us at Vision Direct as Managing Director. I know over the last few years many people have asked after him, and wished him back in practice in Bolton. For me, it feels great to have the old team back together again. We’ve all worked for Mark over the years and know his eyewear and eye care knowledge and experience is invaluable. I know that he will help us to continue bringing all our patients the highest quality care.”
At Vision Direct, they have over 1,000 designer frames and sunglasses to chose from, and offer a full range of services backed up with the latest testing equipment. They will be testing 9 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Saturday, with all their consulting rooms on ground level for easy disabled and pushchair access. They also provide a full range of NHS services and have a fully equipped optical laboratory so glasses and prescription sunglasses orders can be completed with the minimum delay. Their eye test fee is £20 including retinal imaging, and appointments are not always necessary.
